Cooking Up a Win
Cardiff chef wins Renault Clio after entering FirstCar competition
A Cardiff chef has won a brand-new Renault Clio after being randomly selected from more than 90,000 entries in FirstCar and Veygo’s annual ‘Win a Car’ competition.

William Hynam, 26, passed his driving test first time in July and was then handed an unexpected prize that could hardly have come at a better moment.
William was surprised with the news by FirstCar TikTok presenter Keanan Lloyd-Adams, with Sophia Floyed, Head of Brand and Creative at Veygo UK, officially handing over the keys to his new car.
“I’m totally thrilled,” William said, admitting that he was initially speechless before describing the experience as “unbelievable”.
The timing was particularly fortunate because William’s existing car had begun experiencing engine problems.
The chef plans to use his new Renault to explore more of Wales, including its countryside, while also making more frequent visits to his grandparents.

The competition was promoted through more than one million copies of FirstCar magazine distributed over a 12-month period.
More than 1,200 instant prizes were also won during the campaign, but William was the sole winner of the headline prize after his entry was selected at random from the huge pool of entrants.
The competition is designed to engage learners and newly qualified drivers, with FirstCar providing information and advice to help young motorists through the transition from learning to independent driving.
For William, that transition has now come with a brand-new set of wheels, just months after he gained his licence.
On a plate
And there is already another opportunity for learners and new drivers.
FirstCar has launched its latest annual prize draw, again offering the chance to win a Renault Clio, alongside 1,434 instant prizes.
Entry is free and open to eligible entrants through the FirstCar website.
The competition is part of FirstCar’s wider work with young and newly qualified drivers, providing information on everything from buying and running a first car to insurance, safety, maintenance, and becoming a more confident, independent driver.
For William, however, the immediate priority is rather more enjoyable: getting behind the wheel of his new Clio and exploring more of Wales – without worrying about his old car’s increasingly troublesome engine.
