It’s your last chance to secure a ticket for one of the top road safety events concerning young drivers – YDF’25.

“A superb event in amazing surroundings. Without a doubt, one of the best organised I’ve attended with passionate people.”

“Brilliant… We search for something to take us forward and I felt, by various conversations we had, that there was a challenge and a positive drive forward.”

The road ahead

These are just a few of the comments following last year’s Young Driver Focus (YDF’24) conference.
This year’s YDF’25 will take place on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London, but there are just a few tickets left.
It is set to be equally well received, if not even better.

The final two speakers have just been announced, providing international perspectives on what we can and perhaps should be doing when it comes to young drivers.

Paul Cope – UK Director, Safe Roads Challenge

Paul brings 25 years of experience in behaviour change communications and now leads the UK launch of Safe Roads Challenge, a gamified road safety app aimed at Gen Z drivers.

In this session, Paul will show how tech-forward gamification – already a game-changer in public health – can help tackle the UK’s persistently high young driver KSI stats.

What you’ll take away:

·         Why it’s time for a bold, engaging new approach

·         How gamification works – and where it already does

·         What it takes to achieve mass adoption

·         The key role of social influencers in reaching young drivers

Wendy Robertson – National Director, Driving Change Network, New Zealand

From New Zealand, Wendy Robertson offers a global perspective on Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL).

A 2025 Churchill Fellow, she’ll share real-world lessons from New Zealand’s GDL journey – the successes, the shortcuts, and the social equity issues that still need fixing.

What you’ll take away:

·         Evidence of GDL impact on young driver crashes

·         What New Zealand got right – and where it fell short

·         Why accessibility and equity must go hand-in-hand with licensing reform

Big backing

Each year, FirstCar, Road Safety GB, and the RAC Foundation join forces to present YDF, which is also sponsored by GEM Motoring Assist.

This one-day conference is uniquely focused on helping all road safety professionals share the latest data, research, insights, strategies, and ideas about one topic: young driver road safety.

As driving instructors, we are generally undervalued, just as safe driving skills are.

But our job is essential for keeping young people safe behind the wheel and ensuring the safety of all other road users.

Given this, it is key to gain more expertise in understanding and reducing the dangers of and for young drivers.

And that leads us to the relevance and importance of the Young Driver Focus (YDF) annual conference.

Many authoritative presentations by a host of expert speakers dealing with issues affecting young drivers are on the agenda.

All can play a valuable role in helping you and your customers understand the high casualty rate amongst young drivers and how we can best go about educating and protecting them on the roads.

Unforgettable date

Now entering its second decade, this event is the most established young driver event in the road safety calendar.

It brings together those keen on keeping our most at-risk road users safe .

On offer is the latest research, ideas and interventions for newly qualified drivers.

The RAC Club is a fitting establishment, representing the passion for safe, skilled motoring since for nearly as long as the motor car has existed.

Coming together here are road safety professionals from across the UK, spanning the public and private sectors.

It’s an event that receives the backing of key industry bodies such as DVSA, PACTS, Roadsafe, Road Safety Scotland, RoSPA, and THINK!

Those attending include road safety officers from local authorities, fire and rescue services, and the police, as well as driver trainers, academics, business operators, charities, and anyone else with an interest in young drivers.
