GEM Motoring Assist is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2022.

As part of the celebrations it is looking to reward three people who help make roads safer.

Through its new ‘Road Safety Champions’ awards, GEM hopes to say a heart-felt ‘thank you’ to people who are ‘really making a difference in some aspect of making our roads safer’.

Who could you nominate?

“We know there are thousands of dedicated, enthusiastic people who volunteer in various roles,” said a spokesperson. “Or go above and beyond their everyday duties to help make road safety happen in their community or place of work.

“We want to do something special for those individuals who most deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment. They may be well known in their communities or they may be unsung heroes.”

The spokesperson adds that “if they’re doing great work, then do please consider putting them forward for an award.”

A celebration

GEM is initially inviting nominations via email (maximum 200 words) to [email protected].

You’ll need to provide details of the person being nominated, what they do and why they deserve the award. Nominations close on 30 June 2022.

The three ‘champions’ are set to be announced in the autumn 2022 edition of GEM’s Good Motoring magazine. A celebration event will take place including an awards ceremony for the three winners.

The long road

GEM Motoring Assist is there to ‘help keep everyone safe on the roads’. After and 90 years on the road,  GEM says this founding mission ‘remains at the heart of everything we do’.

Today, GEM aims to improve safety for all road users. It achieves this through the sponsorship and initiation of road safety initiatives throughout the UK. This includes providing resources, research and general motoring and safety information to its members and the public.
