There’s no doubt it’s been a turbulent few years for the German car manufacturing giant. Things just seemed to be going quiet until, the latest shock announcement that Germany’s Transport Authority has announced they may force a recall and 124,000 VW Hybrid cars. An extremely toxic metal Cadmium has been found in the high-voltage charging cables.

VW have taken action to immediately stop production of all PHEV models across their main brands such as Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. It is unknown at this stage what level of risk this metal poses in it’s current form, however it is largely prohibited by the German authorities due to it’s danger to the environment when the car is scrapped or recycled.

We are awaiting more information on this developing story, but if you have concerns about your vehicle, we recommend contacting your local VW dealer.
