Have You Heard?
Something for nothing and you're learning for free
In just one day, you could gain fresh teaching ideas, business inspiration, industry insights, new contacts, supplier deals, a serious CPD boost, and have a lot of fun in the process.
What’s more, you could get all this, and it wouldn’t cost you a penny.
Too good to be true, but it is.
Not a penny
It is completely FREE to attend the ADINJC & Intelligent Instructor National Conference & Expo, but it is packed with speakers, discussions, networking opportunities, new products and service ideas, and even food and refreshments to enjoy, cars to test, competitions to enter, and trials to participate in.
All you have to do is sign up for your free entry here, then head along to Cranmore Park, Solihull, on Sunday 27 September.
I’m not sure what excuse for not attending you can come up with, but if you’re an ADI or a PDI, it needs to be a good one.
This is the UK’s biggest gathering of the driver-training community.
This year’s event aims to build on last year’s record attendance of over 1,700 people, like you, enjoying a packed day.
Doors open at 8am, with the event running until 4.30pm, giving attendees plenty of time to pick and choose from a programme designed around the issues that matter to today’s driver trainers.
For you
Whether you’re a newly qualified instructor, an experienced independent ADI, running a driving school or still working towards qualification, there is something in the programme to take straight back into the car.
The Live Stage will feature a DVSA update from Head of Driver Testing and Training Policy Amanda Lane, including developments around the Ready to Pass? campaign, while further DVSA sessions will provide opportunities to hear about the latest developments affecting the profession.
There is also plenty of practical instructor development.
Mike Fowler will examine five things examiners expect instructors to get wrong, while Dr Julia Malkin MBE will explore how instructors can better support learners with ADHD.
And if you’ve been wondering how artificial intelligence could actually help your business rather than simply adding another buzzword to the industry, Des O’Connor will offer eight practical AI strategies to attract pupils and work more efficiently.
Beyond tests
The conference also tackles the bigger question facing the profession: are we teaching people to pass a test – or to become safer drivers for life?
Sharron Huddleston and Kate Monk will explore the case for graduated driving licensing, while ADINJC Head of Training and Deputy Chair Tom Stenson will look at going “Beyond the test”, focusing on developing safer, thinking drivers.
The Training Zone covers subjects including test nerves, driving anxiety, learner body language, inclusion, coaching, road safety and managing stress.
For PDIs, meanwhile, the dedicated PDI Zone provides targeted sessions covering competencies, coaching, meeting learner needs, safety-critical incidents and turning mistakes into learning.
Getting ahead
It’s not all about sitting in seminars.
The Expo brings together more than 70 suppliers, giving instructors the chance to compare products, discover new technology, speak directly to companies and take advantage of event-exclusive offers.
There will be opportunities to experience electric and adapted instructor vehicles, try EVs, explore new training technology, and even take part in a virtual-reality road-safety demonstration.
And don’t underestimate the value of simply talking to other instructors.
The conference provides one of the year’s biggest opportunities to swap ideas, discuss the challenges facing the profession and find out how other ADIs are dealing with everything from test delays and changing learner expectations to technology and running a profitable driving school.
The complete package
The real value of a conference isn’t the number of speakers you see – it’s what you do differently afterwards.
Come along with a question about your teaching, your business or your future as an ADI, and there’s a good chance you’ll leave with an idea, contact, product or piece of knowledge that can make a difference.
The driver-training industry never stops evolving.
Test-booking rules are changing, technology is transforming both cars and businesses, learners’ expectations are changing, and instructors are being asked to do more than prepare pupils for a 40-minute test.
This is the opportunity to step out of the car for a day, see what’s happening across the industry and prepare for what’s coming next.
It’s free.
It’s packed with experts.
It’s designed for ADIs and PDIs.
And it’s happening on Sunday 27 September.
