Lucky Lucie
Young driver wins big with FirstCar
17-Year-Old Lucie Benn Wins FirstCar and Veygo’s ‘Win a Car’ Prize Draw.
She was the top prize winner out of thousands who entered, many winning an array of other prizes, from satnavs to shopping vouchers.
Entry may be free to the annual competition, but for many, it ends up as a valuable investment.
One in a…
For 17-year-old Lucie Benn, passing her driving test first time in July was already a considerable achievement.
Then, just weeks later, her journey behind the wheel took an even more exciting turn after she was named the winner of this year’s FirstCar and Veygo ‘Win a Car’ prize draw.
Lucie, from Cockermouth, Cumbria, was selected at random from more than 110,000 entrants to scoop the star prize — a brand-new Renault Clio.
The annual competition, promoted in over one million copies of FirstCar magazines, has become a landmark giveaway for new and learner drivers across the UK.
Over the 12-month campaign, more than 2,000 instant prizes were claimed by lucky winners, but only one entrant could drive away in the top prize, and this year, that lucky person was Lucie.
Surprise suprise
Lucie’s parents made the journey from their Cumbrian home to Cardiff, where Veygo, the headline sponsor, is based, to witness the unforgettable moment.
The big reveal took place in front of cameras and was presented by FirstCar’s TikTok host, Keanan Lloyd-Adams, who gave Lucie the shock of her life.
Also present was Hannah Thomas, Senior Marketing Executive at Veygo UK, who officially handed over the keys to the brand-new Clio, as captured in the celebratory handover photo.
Lucie admitted she was “totally blown away” by the news, adding:
“At first, I thought it was a joke — I couldn’t believe it. But when it sank in, it honestly felt unbelievable. This is the best day of my life!”
A perfect prize
Currently studying for her A-levels, Lucie recently completed work experience at a local veterinary surgery, reflecting her passion for animals and her aspirations for a career in veterinary science.
Now she can commute to college in comfort and style in her brand-new Clio.
The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Lucie, who only earned her driving licence in July.
She’s now among the first of her friends to enjoy the independence that comes with driving, and she says the car will make a “huge difference” to her studies and social life.
More Prizes to Be Won
FirstCar and Veygo have already opened up for entrants to their latest annual prize draw, providing another lucky young driver with the chance to win a car.
This year’s competition is actually bigger than ever, with 1,220 instant prizes also up for grabs — from shopping vouchers to driving-related goodies.
It’s FREE to enter, and participants can sign up now via www.firstcar.co.uk/win.
Celebrating Safer Driving
The two competition sponsors are specialists in the young driver market.
FirstCar is the UK’s leading publisher for the new driver market, producing over 1.5 million magazines annually and connecting with learners and young drivers through social media, events, and its website.
Meanwhile, headline sponsor Veygo specialises in flexible car insurance for learners, newly qualified drivers, and experienced motorists alike.
For Lucie Benn, the partnership between these two organisations has been genuinely life-changing.
As she proudly drove away in her new Renault Clio, she summed up her feelings: “I still can’t believe it’s real — it’s just amazing.”
