Last week, the DVSA announced and new consultation aimed particularly at ADIs.

DVSA recently changed driving test booking and cancellation rules in an attempt to help reduce test waiting times.

These have already been met with derision and frustration from many ADIs and candidates, though the effects on test waiting times are unknown.

What do you think?

A new official consultation hopes driver trainers will share their views on the changes and suggest additional improvements to the driving test booking system.

It is a great opportunity for ADIs to have their say on these critical issues.

As those at the front line of teaching people to drive and helping candidates book their driving tests, your experience and perspective are vital to designing and developing the best system for the future.

The last consultation, before the recent changes, received only 5,000 comments.

So have your say on the new consultation here.

What’s the point?

However, before you do, you may wish to listen to the latest Dipod podcast – show 242.

This show goes through the DVSA consultation document in fine detail.

It is a must for ADIs to listen to!

These issues, in one form or another, will affect learners and ADIs.

“We, at Dipod, believe that DVSA are trying to sort out the L-test booking system, to slow down the bots! ” say Dipod.

“They have to start somewhere.  If, as an ADI, you think the Bots make no difference, then let DVSA hopefully try to tackle this, and see what happens to the long waiting times and wasted tests.”
