For over 30 years, RoadSafe has been a key player in promoting road safety across the UK and internationally.

Now the organisation has taken another significant step forward with the launch of the Safe System Knowledge Exchange, a new digital resource hosted on its redesigned website: www.roadsafe.com.

The updated platform not only features a modernised layout and improved navigation, but also introduces a dynamic knowledge-sharing hub aimed at empowering road safety professionals around the world.

At its core is the Safe System Knowledge Exchange, an online centrepiece that offers in-depth insights into one of the most important global strategies in road safety.

RoadSafe is a UK-based not-for-profit organisation working to reduce road casualties and improve road user safety by fostering collaboration between government, industry, and academia.

It has long supported research, innovation, and best practice exchange to make roads safer.

Over the past three decades, RoadSafe has helped shape policy and practice both nationally and globally.

The organisation works closely with international partners and is a key supporter of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety, which aims to halve road deaths and injuries by 2030.

RoadSafe also contributes to major initiatives such as the Global Road Safety Partnership and supports fleet safety through its role in the Driving for Better Business programme.

Knowledge sharing

The new Safe System Knowledge Exchange reflects RoadSafe’s mission to make expert guidance and proven solutions more accessible.

It is built around the Safe System approach, a globally endorsed framework that aims to eliminate fatal and serious injuries on the road by designing safer vehicles, roads, and behaviours.

The Exchange includes:

  • Expert-led video briefings from international leaders in road safety

  • Practical guidance for local authorities and policymakers

  • Case studies demonstrating effective implementation of the Safe System model

  • Curated research and resources to support road safety professionals at all levels

The Safe System is built on the principle that humans will make mistakes, and road infrastructure should be designed to minimise the consequences of those errors.

It shifts the responsibility from individuals alone to a more systemic view, where governments, engineers, vehicle manufacturers and employers all play a role in ensuring safety.

Call to action

The new platform was developed in collaboration with data analytics and road safety consultancy Agilysis, and it supports RoadSafe’s vision of a future with zero serious injuries or deaths on roads.

RoadSafe is encouraging road safety professionals, engineers, transport planners, policymakers, and academic researchers to explore the new site and use the resources available to drive improvements in their own countries and communities.

With over 1.19 million road deaths worldwide each year and countless more injured, the need for effective collaboration and knowledge-sharing has never been greater.

Through its new digital hub, RoadSafe hopes to accelerate progress and inspire action in road safety systems globally.
