The COVID-19 has had a huge impact on most industries including car sales. Data released from SMMT, shows a whopping 40% drop in March 2020 vs March 2019. In fact year to date 2020 is 31% down on 2019.

There is however once spark of positivity as PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) were actually up 38% last month vs the same month last year. No doubt a large chunk of these new registrations will be pre-orders, especially PHEV due to their slightly longer order process (due to the increased demand).

The best seller for March was in fact the Volkswagen Golf, beating out the Ford Fiesta and the Mini (2nd & 3rd).

The Fiesta remains on the top of the pile YTD with just under 16,000 orders.
