The Highway Code is a fountain of knowledge, and should be revered by all road users. However, every day is a school day, and so the Highway Code gets regular updates to ensure everyone has the ability to tackle all road situations. However, it’s not just help on the road that the Highway Code provides. It also provides lots of information in regards to first aid – handy for every one to know.

The Highway Code was updated once again yesterday, thanks to new information from the British Burn Association.

Previously, the Highway Code advised to ensure burns cooled for at least 10 minutes, but following the new advice, burns should be cooled for at least 20 minutes.

It advises to cool the burn with ‘clean, cool water.’ If available, cover the burn with cling film, and also not to try to remove anything that is stuck to the burn.

This first aid section also provides advice on emergency care, and getting help when in danger. Definitely worth keeping up to date with.
