If you hadn’t already been bombarded with the bombastic tomes of Shirley Bassey this week, it is the 60th anniversary of the first James Bond film ‘Dr No’.

As well as the time marking soundtracks that were celebrated with a special concert in London this week, Bond cars are equally important to the franchise. The king of the bunch, of course, is the Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger. But there are plenty of other iconic badges and models to celebrate.

Bond cars are generally expensive, as is fitting with the leading secret service operative. Originally in the Ian Flemming books, it was a Bentley that was the only fitting choice. But eh glamour and culture change of the 60s brought a different agenda. Not only that, but like the oundtracks, the cars featured celebrate a privileged position in popular memory. Well mostly.

Only last week, an Aston Martin DB5 stunt car from No Time To Die sold for nearly £3 million, while in 2019 a DB5 used in Thunderball and Goldfinger fetched $6.39 million. With prices like this, your bank balance will be shaken and stirred.

But there is an alternative. To celebrate James Bond Day (5 October), Hagerty has put together a list of Bond cars you can buy on a budget. In most cases, 007 was at the wheel, but there were times when Bond enjoyed the car from the passenger seat.

There plenty undercover models to choose from, whether it be a Mondeo, Renault 11, even a ford Ka.

Of course, if you want to admire that real stars you can find the official list here of the standouts chosen by the erstwhile British spy Bond, James Bond.
