Spurs and France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been hit with a £50,000 fine and has been banned from driving for 20months.

The player will retain the captain’s armband at his club, but won’t feature for a few weeks due to injury.

Lloris is just the latest in what seems like an ongoing issue with high profile football players.

Less than a month ago, we discussed the largest speeding fine ever handed out in the UK to Mario Lemina of Southampton.

This isn’t a new problem, but with the recent update to laws, it’ certainly more in the public eye.

That being said, should more be done by the Premier League & the Football Association to help young stars?

The FA has a history of driver education programmes with the likes of BSM, however the attitudes don’t seem to have changed.

With the money swilling around in football, young players now have access to high powered cars at a very young age.

We don’t count this as an excuse, but even those who look with understanding, will struggle to side with Lloris.

At 31 years of age, over 200 appearances for Spurs and over 100 caps for France, it’s a disappointing example that’s been set.

Our hope is that Hugo can now use his  experience to educate younger players.
