It seems like a weekly occurrence that we’re talking about another premier league football player being slapped with a driving ban.

This time it’s Manchester City & France defender Benjamin Mendy. The premier league and world cup winner has followed his France colleague Hugo Lloris who was banned last week for driving driving.

Mendy amassed a total of 24 points after his vehicle was caught spotted speeding 4 times in February this year.

After letters requesting details about who was driving, the magistrates court decided to give him the maximum £2,500 fine and ban him for 12 months.

Whilst on these occasion it may not have been Mendy behind the wheel, it does raise the question again of the attitude of professional football players towards driving and road safety.

These individuals are role models (whether they want to be or not) for young people across the country.

Unfortunately we could get to a stage where there are more points on football players licences than on their teams totals at the end of the season.
