The National Associations Strategic Partnership carried out its first live webinar on Tuesday. They hope this will be the first of many following this initial success.

Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions on any topic related to the work of our industry and NASP. Three topics dominated the:

  • the continuing impact of COVID
  • changes to the Highway Code
  • the use of performance data in prioritising Standards Checks now, and in potentially helping the public to choose a trainer in the future (something which DVSA’s latest consultation appears to open the door to).

Your questions

These three areas alone stimulated some valuable conversations. The questions and feedback have already been fed back to the DVSA. They will form part of NASP’s discussions with their senior management team at the regular end of month meeting.

As with this week’s session, future NASP webinars will be timed so as to take place ahead these key meetings. The meetings generally involve stakeholders such as DVSA and Department for Transport. The webinars will provide NASP with important views and insights that can be inputed into such discussions.

Your views

NASP is also intending to carry out regular surveys to gauge opinion in the industry on the key issues impacting it. The first will be a survey looking how trainer performance data could and should be used.

As NASP reflected on the event: “It was great to see so many trainers joining us and engaging in this week’s session. We thank those who participated for their questions, comments, insights and suggestions”.
