A new mobile mechanics service is launched by the AA

In June this year, the RAC launched its mobile mechanic service . This followed the success of smaller independent local service providers and fits in to the increasing demand by customers for a more flexible and convenient way to get your car serviced.

The AA has now followed suit with the launch of a mobile mechanics service.

On trial

AA Mobile Mechanics, is being trialled across Manchester and Birmingham.

A new on-demand product that enables owners to have their vehicles serviced without the need to visit a garage. This also means owners can organise servicing when and where they want.

AA Mobile Mechanics are able to carry out manufacture servicing as well as full and interim services .

“Our new mobile servicing offer will help drivers keep their show on the road by offering garage level maintenance away from the repair shop,” states James Hosking, managing director of AA Prestige, Autocentres and Garage Services.

Hosking says that it is increasingly difficult to arrange a visit to a garage, adding that “often it is difficult to get a loan car”

“Using AA Mobile Mechanics means we can let people carry on with their day while our experts do all the hard work.”

Busy busy

The launch coincides with warning that November is the busiest month for MOTs. This is due to the spread of new vehicle registrations and legacy MOT deferrals caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recent DVSA data shows that 28% of all cars and vans fail their MOT. It is also very common for motorists to use the timing of the MoT test as a reminder for their annual car servicing.
