The glittery magic of winning awards doesn’t just apply to the BAFTAs and actors.

Our own very special industry has it own top line, independent and most valued awards – The Intelligent Instructor Awards in association with AcciDON’T Driving School.

Winners were announced, Sunday 18th February, revealing the very best in class in the driver training industry, spanning instructors, driving schools, and suppliers to the industry.

Tuning in to talent

Cometh the hours, cometh the …..man, woman, business…..

The Intelligent Instructor Awards ’24 has reached its conclusion.

Without doubt, these are the biggest and most credible industry awards for our industry.

Revealing the winners all too took place on line, but you can view the proceedings here.

Established back in 2019, the Intelligent Instructor Awards aim to shine a light on excellence within our industry.

There is plenty of it going on out there, with car loads of potential winners. It makes it a difficult task, but sponsors such as AcciDON’T Driving School and the ADINJC are there to support the whole affair.

This is the only independent recognition of the great, highly valuable work we do day in, day out.

These are the biggest and most credible awards for our industry and, again, our fifth year shone an even greater light on excellence .

Rewarding your excellence

Richard Storrs, founder of Intelligent Instructor says “we continue to be amazed by the quality of entries and number nominations received”.

“This year was no different, with a record number of both submissions and votes received.”

In fact, more than 8,000 votes were cast, and thousands of driving instructor customers had their say. It was then up to 14 independent judges to reflect these and make their own professional judgements.

All this careful, independent and public involvement has continued grow the popularity of the awards. It also “gives further credibility to our award winners, and underlines the fact that they remain the most prestigious and sought after awards with in our industry” added Storrs.

“We are very proud to reward the very best instructors, driving schools and suppliers within the industry, from right across the country. This industry is often overlooked and unrewarded, and it shouldn’t be underestimated how important this industry is to helping make new drivers safer road users.”

Simon Johnston, founder and Managing Director of headline sponsor AcciDON’T Driving School, added that “there are so many hard-working instructors, driving schools and industry suppliers, within our industry”.

“These awards seek to shine a light on those delivering excellence. We are so very proud to support these awards to help give back to those often-overlooked instructors and industry suppliers.”

The very best

Perhaps the most important category for you is the Driving Instructor of the Year.

These were split into 11 regions, with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards per area.

The Driving Instructor of the Year nominations came directly from those who know best, the learners themselves. Intelligent Instructor has very close links with FirstCar, the new driver brand, who canvassed their 120,000 young driver database to encourage nominations for driving instructors, via an online nomination form.

Furthermore, ADIs themselves were encouraged to get their pupils and newly qualified pupils to have their say too. These testimonies and numbers of nominations are a huge part of the judging process and provide a real insight into the quality of your work.

There is the top award for one instructor, with Peter Skelton crowned ‘Intelligent Instructor’s Driving Instructor of the Year 2024’. He’s based in Newbury, Berkshire.

Winning formulas

All winners will be presented with trophies, kindly supplied by the ADINJC, at The Driving Instructor Convention, networking event on 11th May 2024.

The convention is a brand new event that looks to provide ADIs who want to learn and achieve more. There are expert multi-disciplinary trainers, top instructors and top industry professionals to impart their advice, top tips and incredible knowledge.

So whilst you may leave the event with a glittering award, everyone will be leaving with outstanding rewards from the convention itself.

Huge congratulations to all the winners, all those shortlisted, but also everyone in this industry of ours that work so hard to provide such an essential service to our society, and our safety on the roads.
