The annual Tyre Safety month is upon us.

The aim of the awareness campaign to to emphasise the importance of tyres to very aspect of driving, and driving safely.

This year the campaign is asking Britain’s motorists: If your tyres don’t stop you, what will?’

Wake up

Much of everyday life is dedicated to being risk averse and making adequate preparations, whether that be getting ready for a job interview, ensuring you’re not late for that all-important meeting, or simply planning a night out.

As part of this year’s Tyre Safety Month, TyreSafe is asking drivers to consider the risks involved in not carrying out vital checks on their tyres, and the potentially tragic consequences if they needed to stop in an emergency and their tyres failed.

The question If your tyres don’t stop you, what will? not only reminds the motorist of the benefits and importance of tyre checks but also carries the literal message that, as the only point of contact between the road and the vehicle, it is tyres which are crucial for safe and effective braking and cornering.

Spread the word

TyreSafe has developed an ‘impactful’ suite of resources, all of which incorporate the powerful acronym ‘ACT – air pressure, condition, tread’. Some of these are available to download via the TyreSafe website.

Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe chair, said: “This year’s Tyre Safety Month campaign leaves no room for confusion or question that tyres are vital to road safety.

“In an emergency, roadworthy tyres could be the difference between driving away and the unthinkable. Ignoring tyre safety and putting others at risk is inexcusable, especially when it only takes a few minutes to check your tyres every month.”
